Los Angeles is one PickupPal’s largest member communities with over 2,000 members in the city of Los Angeles alone. The demand for Ridesharing in Los Angeles is high and we have seen a distinct pattern that following an event like the “Opportunity Green Sustainable Business Conference” in which PickupPal was a partner for ridesharing, there is then a echo effect in which new members get engaged in other Ridesharing activities.

Part of Ridesharing in Los Angeles is also the use of the extensive High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes that are found throughout the area. The County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (Metro) is responsible for the planning, maintenance and development of HOV lanes in the area. As of January 2000, the State of California had 925 HOV lane miles, representing approximately 1.9% of the state highway system’s total lane miles. Over 40% of these HOV facilities (380 lane miles) can be found in Los Angeles County (Source - LAO Report).
